JACK HUANG, our sourcing manager, earned his BSME from National Taiwan University in 1992 and spent 2 years working for Company #P as an engineer. Then Jack won an opportunity, through an island wide testing/selection process, to represent Taiwan in an international collection of engineers on a steel making project in Indonesia . In 1997 the project ended, and Jack returned to Taiwan and joined FETS, where he has since gained excellent experience in sourcing, tooling, packaging, and manufacturing.
就如同看到報紙很多求才廣告所刊登的職缺，不管是Sourcing Manager或Purchasing Manager，我們一般的認知是: 他們要的是"採購經理"，其實Sourcing和Purchasing兩個字是有區別的。sourcing是source (找出來源)的動名詞，意思是"找出供應商或掌握特定來源"。一般大公司sourcing和purchasing的工作，是由不同的人員負責。採購流程是先sourcing再purchasing，負責sourcing的人要先找幾家可能的供應廠商，取得他們的報價，並會同品管、技術或業務等部門的代表，一起訪查、評估這些廠商(vendor surveys)，一旦選定供應商，再由purchasing的人員執行後續採購的工作。如原有供應商不再適任，而必須另找新的來源時，sourcing人員須重行介入"尋找新廠商(sourcing new vendors) "的工作。
